Thursday Night Matchup - Titans vs Steelers

In the last week, how many times do you think this video of Lendale White stomping on the terrible towel was shown in the Steelers locker room?  Probably none, because the Steelers have a much better copy of this video than the one I pulled off YouTube!  By the way, LenDale White has lost 30 pounds coming into his contract season so you may not even recognize him come Thursday.



The 2009 NFL season opens on Thursday night with the Titans at Steelers. This was suppose to be the matchup we anticipated for the 2008 AFC Championship game.  For the most part, team rosters were able to stay in tact for both teams.
During the offseason, the Detroit Lions pillaged both teams taking the Titans defensive coordinator and Larry Foote (LB) from the Steelers.  The Titans also lost their big man in the middle Albert Haynesworth to the Redskins. However, neither team has lost their identity, so I expect a very physical low scoring rock'em, sock'em style game. 

For this reason, I think 6 points is way too many points to be giving up to a quality team like the Titans.  The over/under for this game is only 35 points so even the odds makers are expecting a defensive battle. I look for the Titans to be able to run the ball effectively with a new slimmed down White and a weaker Steelers middle without linebackers Lawrence Timmons and Foote.

The Steelers are the reigning Super Bowl Champions and are getting the respect they deserve but the Titans are a perfect 8-0 ATS the last 2 years in September. Look for that trend to continue.
