The Numbers Never Lie

If you can divorce yourself from the players and their reputations, this one is easy. San Diego and Phillip Rivers are not playing up to what their reputation would imply. Their offensive line has been decimated with injuries and the Bears defense has been improving as the year progresses. Julius Peppers should rip off about three sacks and Rivers will be under duress all day.

On the flip side, Cutler and Martz are finally getting on the same page. Martz has shifted the offense to a greater percentage of runs and short passes. And, because of the success of Forte and the Bear run game, it has allowed a more effective play action. Similar to last year, the offensive line has evolved and is playing well after a putrid start.

This is usually the time of year when San Diego starts to play. However, this is not a "usual" year for them.

As always, its tough for west coast teams to travel east.
