NFL Underdog Pick: Week 16
December 21th 2007 by Special K
Philadelphia Eagles (+3) vs New Orleans Saints
The Saints are the consensus pick in most leagues. They are fighting for a
playoff spot and this game means something to them. What purpose or
meaning does this game have for the Eagles? The Saints should win this game,
right?
WRONG! Forget the points. Take the Eagles to win this game outright. The
Eagles have a lot of motivation to win this game. They can knock the Saints out
of the playoff race just like the Saints did to them last year (27-24).
With Lito Sheppard and Brian Dawkins both healthy again, the Eagles will be able to
shut down the one dimensional Saints offense. In the last 3 games, the
Eagles have only allowed 16 points per game and less than 300 yards total
offense.
The Saints defense on the other hand will have a difficult time trying to shut
down Brian Westbrook. Westbrook won't be laying down on the 1 yard line
this week.
Of note, this is just just the second time since his rookie year in 1999, that
Donovan McNabb will be on the field at the end of the season and not in the
playoffs.
