NFL Bargain Bets for Week 16
December 27th 2009 - Old Man Winner
Ah, the Holidays! I love 'em, but they wreak havoc on my fantasy
I apologize to all my loyal followers for the tardy posting on this post. I know
it's post on Sunday morning doesn't help those who've already visited the
window, but to maintain the integrity of the picks I thought I would go "on the
Since the stakes are a little lower on these picks, I'm going to mention several
games and my brief rationale rather than a lengthier write-up on only one game.
I know I didn't write this one up prior to the game, but I did officially post
the pick. Love the Chargers. They may not lose again this year. They're looking
KC + 14
KC was thoroughly embarrassed last week by Cleveland. They looked like a high
school team on defense. Guys were giving up all over the place. I just don't see
that happening again. Besides this could be a "weather" game and Cincy will be
focused on the run so it should slow things down enough for a cover here.
Miami is a very physical team. Houston is more of a finesse team. I like to say
that "when a physical team meets a finesse team, usually the physical team
wins". I'm sticking with that theory here and the home team. The loser is out of
the playoff chase and I just think Parcells and Sparano's will takes over in
The Giants have become a roller coaster team this year you never know when they
are going to be up or down. However, I think last week's domination on Monday
night was good for their confidence and I think they are officially in their
It's tough to pick a .500 team and give 12 pts., but I think Mike Singletary
continually preaches "finishing", which is what they want to do in their last
two games. Beside being a poor team, all of Detroit's so-called stars are either
out or hurt to some degree. Stafford and Kevin Smith are out and Megatron is not
at full strength. I expect a big number from SF today.
Don't ask me why I love the Jets in this one. I just have a hunch this is the
day the old Dolphins pop the champagne. Rob Ryan wants to hang his hat on
something this year after so many disappointing loses and deep down I think the
execs in Indy think they'd have a better chance at another Super Bowl with a
taste of defeat before the playoffs.
Love Dallas this week. I think all the December BS is behind them and they are a
legit team heading into the playoffs. Washington is an absolute mess and
completely distracted. I think they get thumped again this week.
