NFL Bargain Bets for Week 5
October 8th 2010 - Old Man Winner
N.O. -6.5 vs. Arizona
Arizona is now officially on their 3rd string quarterback. And the
Pittsburgh Steelers they are not! That should be all you need to know, but if
that is not enough they are playing the Super Bowl Champs who still are playing
with their first string quarterback - you may have heard of this guy.
Look, I know the Saints are on the road and traveling across the country blah,
blah blah. I know that they are banged up - Brees is playing with a brace, Bush
and Porter are out and Pierre Thomas is questionable, but I also know that when
a team is desperate enough to throw an undrafted rookie out there against an
ultra aggressive, turnover oriented defense it is feeding time for the sharks.
New Orleans may be not be producing points at the same frenetic pace they did
last year, however Brees will put up more than enough this week (even without
some of his weapons) to cover the spread.
I expect defensive coordinator, Greg Williams to dial up the pressure and bring
8 and 9 guys into the box to force the unknown Max Hall to throw the ball, which
they hope he will do.
I've learned to hate taking favorites on the road, but I just can't help myself
in this one.
