How is this for parity in the NFL through week 5? The Jets,
Bengals, Broncos, Saints, and 49ers are all on top of their respective
divisions. None of these teams even made the playoffs in 2008.
By far the most anticipated matchup in week 6 is the Giants against the Saints.
Both teams are coming off byes last week (yes playing the Raiders is now
considered a bye week). The major difference with the Saints in 2009 is
their much improved defensive (ranked 7th in yards per game). Of course, the
Giants rank #1 in total defense. Would you have guessed that the Giants offense
actually ranks higher than the Saints in yards per game? This is true as well.
The Giants are ranked #2 in this category while the Saints rank #3. So will we
see a defensive low scoring game or a shootout?
