We have ranked the top running backs for the 2008 Fantasy Football draft.
The Vikings Adrian Peterson came very close this year to dethroning LaDainian
Tomlinson as the top pick. Peterson was just a little too inconsistent
last year (i.e. rushing for 3 yards against the 49ers in week 14) to be taken
#1. We do look for Peterson to carry most of the load this year behind one
of the best offensive lines in the league.
Sleeper Pick: Reggie Bush
Ok, so maybe you got burned by the hype and drafted Bush way too high the last
couple years. However, the Saints are going to be a contender this year
and if Bush's knee can hold up, he makes for a really solid 2nd back. Reggie
Bush isn't even cracking the Top 20 these days in most fantasy draft boards.
2nd Sleeper Pick: Jonathan Stewart
Stewart was the 13th overall pick in the draft and he is the main reason why
DeShaun Foster is now playing for the 49ers. Stewart is a big physical
back who fits right in with John Fox's style of football.
Potential Bust: Frank Gore
When was the last time a
Mike Martz offense ever handed the ball off to a running back 25 times?
I don't believe it ever happened while he was a coach in Detroit.
Also,
Gore may likely be splitting carries with DeShaun Foster.
Waiting in the Wings: Broncos RB's
Who are we going to see running the ball in Denver this year? Michael
Pittman? Selvin Young? Cecil Sapp? not to mention there are 3 rookies RB's
in camp as well.
