NFL Underdog Pick for Week 3
September 18th 2013 - Special K
New York Giants (+1.5) at Carolina
Panthers
The Giants defense is sick so they visited their
doctor this week after giving up an average of 38.5 points in their first two
games. What was the doctor's prescription? the Carolina offense. The Panthers
pass offense ranks 30th in the NFL, not surprising given that they only have one
weapon at wide receiver. Meanwhile, the so called improved Carolina defense
ranks 26th and has yielded over 400 total yards of offense on average. Advantage
- New York.
The Panthers offense clearly needs to open it up a little. Cam has only 9 rushes
in his first two games. Last year, Cam had 18 rushes in his first two games. If
the Panthers are content in letting Cam Newton be a pocket passer, then they
will fall to 0-3.
Is there any urgency in this weekend's game? The Giants believe so. Since 1998,
no team starting off the season 0-3 has made the playoffs. You all probably know
that the 2007 New York Giants started 0-2 and went on to win the Super Bowl.
What's important is that the Giants won in week 3 that year. They also
beat the Panthers badly in week 3 last season. Here we are
again.
So how will the Giants respond? Here's a stat supporting the Giants that I love.
The New York Giants are an impressive 8-2 SU when coming off of a double digit
home loss.
Take the Giants
